Luca is enthusiastic about growing and developing life science & diagnostic businesses through exceptional business execution. He is able to combine strategic thinking and operational performance while motivating his team to deliver results for the business.
Having worked in Life Science for a number of years, he has a keen interest in how the laboratory of the future can bring about a more collaborative approach to research. Automation has the potential to bring together new fields from NGS to CRISPR, from 3D cell biology models to organ on a chip and from synthetic biology to cell therapies in the effort to cure disease. Tecan empowers laboratories around the world to realise these ambitions.
Luca leads the laboratory automation business unit within Tecan and has done so since mid-2017 where he launched the new Fluent Gx automation platform for regulated laboratories and the first IoT cloud connectivity product at Tecan.
Since 2016 Luca has also led the global plastic consumables business. The key focus has been to de-commoditize the product and drive value. The consumables business is run as a single entity covering all functional roles from product management & marketing, to R&D, manufacturing and inside sales.
Luca joined Tecan in 2013 in the corporate development team and was instrumental in re-shaping the Tecan strategy towards a solution business. He launched the Tecan rebranding project and executed the acquisition of the specialty diagnostics immunoassays reagents and LCMS smart consumables businesses.
Prior to joining Tecan Luca spent 6 years as a management consultant with A.T. Kearney driving global strategic and operational projects mainly for pharmaceutical and consumers goods companies.
Luca holds a Master degree in Molecular Biology and a Master of Advanced Studies in Management, Technology and Economics from ETH, Zurich.
